Running in Frankfurt is mostly flat through the city itself—the Mainkai riverside path and the Palmengarten loop are local staples—but the Pfingstkronenlauf and Sohrener Sommerlauf draw runners into the nearby Taunus and Hunsrück hills just 30–40km out. Cyclists dominate the region: the Rhine-Main area feeds directly into serious terrain, with the Rhein-Hunsrück-Tour, MyEifelRide brevet, and 34. Wildpferde RTF all launching from here into the Eifel and Hunsrück uplands (500–700m elevation), making this a hub for long-distance and gravel riding. The flat Main riverbank is a training default; real rides go west into rolling forest and ridge routes within an hour.
