Leverkusen runs flat along the Rhine's eastern bank, making it ideal for tempo work and long steady miles on the Rheinufer path heading north toward Cologne or south toward Bonn. Cyclists dominate here—the city sits in prime randonneuring territory, with the 40 RTF der RSG Ford Köln and An die Mosel routing through the region's rolling Rhineland climbs and wine country to the south. Head east 20–30km into the Bergisches Land for forested hills and proper elevation gain around Lindlar and Altenberg.
