Running: Sherbrooke gives runners river paths, park loops, and honest hills without much fuss. Locals use Parc Jacques-Cartier and Lac des Nations for steady laps, and one lap around Lac des Nations gives you 3.5 km. Coin des Coureurs at 3145 Portland Boulevard anchors the St-François River Run and the Tuesday 6pm interval night. Les Courses Partagées de Sherbrooke meets Sunday and Wednesday mornings from May 15 to September 30 at Parc Jacques-Cartier. Parc du Mount-Bellevue hosts the Mount-Bellevue Trail Run, while Marathon Nighlight Sherbrooke, Demi-Marathon RBC de Sherbrooke, and Crépuscule André-Grimard keep the calendar sharp.
Cycling: Sherbrooke rides best when you accept that the town rolls. Sherbrooke Cycling Club brings the cyclosportif crowd together with 200 members and platoon rides ranging from 65 to 110 km. Locals use Route des vins de l’Estrie and Route des vins de Brome-Missisquoi for longer base miles with gran fondo energy. Mont-Bourque, Mont-Mégantic, and Mont Owl's Head sit farther out for bigger days. Mont Bellevue Park gives mountain bikers 100 km of trails, so the singletrack and cyclocross legs both get fed. Gravelooza and Tour du Lac Brome Sun Life are the anchor names riders notice.
Season: Summer makes Sherbrooke feel like a playground that people can enjoy while taking care of themselves. Locals run, ride, hike, mountain bike, and jog through the parks when the warm months hit, and summer and fall bring the wettest stretch. Spring and autumn feel crisp, which suits intervals, Z2, and longer river days. Winter changes the rhythm because Sherbrooke has long, cold, snowy winters with large annual snowfall. Runners keep to packed paths and park walks, while cyclists either go indoor or treat cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking, and tubing as the base layer.
