47th Annual Jack Gamble Melon Run
The Jack Gamble Melon Run is a three-mile race held on the Fourth of July in Gainesville, Florida. The Florida Track Club hosts it at Albert Massey Park, also known as Westside Park. The event begins in the morning and centers on running, watermelon, and a short children's race. The course features rolling hills. The main race is accompanied by a half-mile run for children. Awards are presented for 10-year age groups, and the winners receive watermelons. Runners can expect post-race refreshments, and the day concludes with the naming of the race’s King and Queen.
