Santa Rosa Turkey Trot
The Santa Rosa Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day 5K held at Old Courthouse Square in downtown Santa Rosa, California. The main race begins in the morning, uses chip timing, and starts all participants simultaneously, accommodating both those aiming for a personal best and families seeking a holiday walk before their meal. A Tiny Turkey run for ages 1 to 5 follows the 5K, a short dash around the square. The 5K course begins at Old Courthouse Square, proceeds through downtown, extends along Santa Rosa Creek, and concludes back at the square, utilizing a path of pavement and packed dirt. The event welcomes runners, joggers, and walkers, with costumes encouraged. Participants receive wooden medals, while age-group winners are awarded special lanyards. The race benefits the Redwood Empire Food Bank via Learning is Open, a local nonprofit. It takes place regardless of weather, aligning with its straightforward holiday purpose: participate, exercise briefly, and support a Sonoma County food bank before Thanksgiving commences.
