DINO MTB Series - Griffin Bike Park
Griffin Bike Park, located at 10700 Bono Road in Terre Haute, Indiana, hosts a DINO MTB Series event on its purpose-built mountain bike park. The race utilizes a 6-mile circuit featuring a 4 out of 5 hills rating and a 4 out of 5 surface rating, offering more than just a flat ride. Mountain bikes, cyclo-cross bikes, and similar configurations are permitted, provided they have no motor assistance and two functioning hand-operated brakes. Participants must wear a certified, securely fastened helmet and closed-toe shoes.
The park offers various features including XC trails, pump tracks, jump lines, technical elements, and a dual slalom course. However, the DINO race course emphasizes faster trails with passing opportunities alongside moderately challenging singletrack. These singletrack sections incorporate rapid ascents and descents, demanding good handling skills and short bursts of power. Registration is open from morning until each rider's start time, with a refundable cash deposit required for number plates at check-in. Camping is available at Fowler Park, directly across from Griffin Bike Park, connected by a bike trail. A free DINO Kids Ride for those 12 and under is also part of the event, with every child receiving a small prize.

Thunder in the Valley
Thunder in the Valley begins at Hawthorn Lake, within Hawthorn Park in Terre Haute, Indiana. Athletes start with a 500-meter swim, followed immediately by a transition area beside the lake. This USAT-certified, early-season sprint-distance event offers solo and relay participation. The triathlon consists of a 500-meter swim, a 20k bike ride, and a 5k run. The duathlon replaces the swim with a short initial run before proceeding to the same bike and run segments.
The 20k bike course covers rolling hills, leading participants back to the park. The 5k run is a flat, shaded out-and-back route. With over forty years of history, the race attracts both novice triathletes and seasoned competitors using it to open their season. Relay teams can divide the triathlon among two or three members, and duathlon relays involve two participants. All finishers receive custom die-cast medals, swim caps, shirts, awards, and refreshments after the race.

Fairbanks ParkではRiddell National Bank Presents: The Twilight River Runっていうレースもあるし、Hawthorn ParkではThe Swamp StompとThe Indiana Fall Classicが開催されるんだよ。Griffin Bike ParkはQuick Quack Trail Runで盛り上がるんだよね。コースは全部で5 kmだから、街から出ずにしっかり追い込めるのが良いところ。
