Ulm's running routes follow the Danube valley floor through the city and south toward Blaubeuren, mostly flat terrain ideal for steady-paced efforts. Cyclists have immediate access to the Swabian Alps rolling hills 20–30km south; the Rottal-Classic and Stauferland-Alb-Marathon are the region's signature events, mixing 700–900m elevation gain across gravel and road sections through forests and wine country around the Alb plateau.
