Badajoz

Badajoz sits on the Guadiana River in Extremadura, with mostly flat terrain through the city centre and low hills to the north. The Desafío San Fernando cross races (10K and 21K) are the anchor events, drawing runners along rural routes outside the city; cyclists tackle the same terrain on the longer Desafío San Fernando 40K BTT mountain bike course. Training runs follow the Guadiana parkland paths, though serious elevation requires driving 40km north into the Sierra de San Pedro.
