Nîmes sits on the edge of the Camargue wetlands with the garrigue scrubland rising immediately north—rocky, sparse, and rolling to around 300m elevation. Cyclists tackle the Randonnée Garrigues Mont Bouquet through those inland hills or ride the flat La Ronde Camarguaise loop south into delta country. Runners find the town itself relatively flat, though the garrigue tracks north offer trail running through wild limestone terrain perfect for tempo work away from roads.
