Running: Locals run Kingston from the waterfront paths to the K&P Trail, then add Fort Henry Hill when intervals need bite. Runners' Choice Kingston keeps the week moving with Lagers & Joggers, Hops & Runners, the Intro to running group, Road Loops @ Canex, and the Sunday Long Run from 56 Brock St. Queens West Campus group uses Memorial Centre Track in summer, Fort Henry Hill Grass Loops in fall, and Barriefield Hills in winter. KRRA gives the race calendar its backbone with Resolution Run 8K, LRW Waterfront 10k Race, LRW Historic Half, Wolfe Island Classic 5K/10K, and Fort Henry 5KXC.
Cycling: Locals ride Kingston like a base-miles town with plenty of gravel close by. You get 3 km of flat asphalt for easy spins. The K&P Trail runs 22 km through Kingston, and the crushed limestone sections work for Z2 days or a mellow gravel setup. Wolfe Island gives cycling routes from 18 to 58 km, while Battersea pumpkins, Kerry's Loop, Strathcona, and K&P Trail to Yarker cover the gravel itch. Tourism Kingston and Ontario By Bike carry the local route intel. Kingston Stage Race – Hill Climb, Wolfe Island Gravel Grinder, and Prince Edward County Gran Fondo are the anchors.
Season: Summer makes Kingston simple for both sports. The Waterfront Trail hugs the shoreline, the K&P Trail stays useful for long steady work, and Lemoine Point Conservation Area gives 11 km of wooded trails when legs want shade. Riders can use bike rentals and bike-friendly accommodations with secure storage, then roll into country roads or Wolfe Island without much drama. Winter changes the rhythm more than the ambition. Runners lean into layering, traction, treadmill strategies, and cold-weather fueling, while riders keep fitness with Z2, careful gear choices, and routes that make sense when the surface is not friendly.
