About cycling & running in ManresaManresa Training Notes
Running: Locals run from the city centre toward the river Cardener when they want easy rhythm and quick Z2. The pla de Bages gives steady ground, and the old vineyard terraces add just enough bite for base miles. Collbaix mountain is the local trail target when legs need climbing. The Magic Line is a trail climb to the Collbaix, and the Zegama trail gives a technical and straight descent. 5K i 10K Urbans de Manresa, La Mitja ViBa, Sant Silvestre Manresana, and Punk Trail Sant Joan de Vilatorrada anchor the calendar.
Cycling: Locals ride a lot here, because Manresa has 788 cycle routes around it. The shortest route covers 3 km and 113 m of elevation gain on paved roads. The longest route covers 8 km with 546 m of ascent. The steepest pitch hits 1,298 m of ascent in just 1 km. Collbaix mountain and Montserrat sit close enough to shape the legs. BTT Criminal i Bandolers, Open Maxxis - Castellgalí, Marxa Selènika, and La Navarclina keep riders honest.
Season: March and September are the best months, and most riders get on their bikes here then. Locals use spring for base miles, longer runs, and cleaner climbing before the heat sits in. Summer brings hot and moderately dry days, so the city centre works best early and the river Cardener makes an easy reference point for short intervals. Runners keep trail efforts sharp around Collbaix, and cyclists move big work onto planned climbs. Winter gets cold, so both sports shift toward shorter Z2, steadier loops, and sessions that finish before the chill settles in.
