Erlangen

Erlangen is a flat university town on the Regnitz River in Franconia, with quick access to rolling farmland and forest trails east toward the Steigerwald. The Gravelride Von der Aurach in den Steigerwald uses local gravel routes to climb into that same terrain, while the Herpersdorf-Cup and Ansbacher Gravelride tap the gentler mixed-surface riding between Erlangen and Ansbach. Runners have easy park loops around the city centre and the riverside path, but the real training ground for cyclists is 15–25km out, where limestone hills and Franconian wine country begin.
