Kamloops sits where the North and South Thompson rivers meet in the dry interior of British Columbia, creating fast, rolling terrain ideal for both disciplines. Runners tackle the Top Of The World Ultra and Walk in the Park 50km courses in the surrounding ranching country, while cyclists exploit the region's gravity assets—Sun Peaks, 45km northeast and rising 600m, hosts downhill racing through the BC Cup series, and the gravel and road courses for the 2026 55+ BC Games showcase the mix of technical singletrack and highway climbs that define the area. The terrain is high desert with minimal rain June through September, making it one of Canada's most reliable training grounds for summer racing.
