Tri the Parks - Don Carter State Park Sprint
The Don Carter State Park Sprint, a Tri the Parks event, takes place at Don Carter State Park in Gainesville, Georgia, offering sprint triathlon, duathlon, and aquabike races. Race morning begins early: the park opens at 6:00 a.m., check-in closes at 7:30, athletes proceed to the beach for swim seeding and the duathlon start, and racing commences at 8:00. The event is limited to 300 participants and is open to athletes aged 9 and older. The triathlon swim covers 600 meters, beginning at the dock and concluding at the boat ramp; swim caps are provided to help sort athletes by their starting position. The aquabike course includes a 17.7 km bike segment with 149 meters of elevation gain. The race organization is practical: bike racks correspond to assigned race numbers, and athletes receive body marking with their race number and age. The broader Tri the Parks series, organized by a Marietta, Georgia-based group, also features events at John Tanner State Park and Lake Lanier Olympic Park.
