Running: Locals run Kavala from the city centre to the port, the coastal zone, main streets, squares, and the Old Town. The Kavala Night City Run owns September, with the 10km road race, 5km run and power walking race, family run, and children's running race giving everyone a bib. Zigos Run gives trail legs an April anchor in the pine forest of Zygos. Kavala '86 and the other named clubs keep the sports scene active, though the brief does not name a dedicated run club.
Cycling: Locals ride because Kavala gives road, MTB, and singletrack days without much drama. The city has 40 cycle routes, and those tracked routes add up to 2,542 km. The Kavala to Eikosifinissa monastery ride runs 75 km and climbs 955 m before giving back 955 m of descent. One route runs 8 km and gains 329 m, so it works for base miles. One 7 km MTB route climbs 2,389 m, which is real interval work. Zigos Run and MTB Race anchors April, while Обиколката на Ситония sits in the wider race calendar.
Season: Kavala trains best from May through October, when the coastal rhythm makes Z2 rides and steady runs easy to stack. July and August bring hot-summer Mediterranean days, so locals go early, keep the port and coastal zone in the mix, and save hard intervals for cooler hours. September feels made for the Kavala Night City Run, and April belongs to Zygos with pine forest trails. Winter stays usable, but sporadic snowfalls happen more or less every year, so runners watch footing and cyclists shift toward cleaner road days when the climbs look messy.
