Guadalajara lies on the Alcarria plateau at 640m elevation, 50km east of Madrid, where rolling terrain and pine forests make it a base for central Spanish mountain biking. The Marcha MTB Valdenuño and MTB Peñalver start nearby, drawing riders into the granite hills and technical singletrack of the region. Road runners have modest local options but benefit from the cooler highland climate and weekend access to Madrid's larger race calendar.
