Poprad

Poprad sits at the foot of the High Tatras mountains in northeastern Slovakia, making it the natural hub for trail running and mountain biking in the region. Runners tackle the Primátorská desiatka, a flat 10km town course, but the real draw is the high-altitude terrain — the Ganrun 6.7km race and longer ALS charitatívny beh routes push into the Slovenský Raj karst landscape with steep ascents and rocky descents. Cyclists dominate here: the Škoda Horal MTB Marathon (42km) and Skoda Slovensky Raj (68km) are signature endurance events that climb through beech and spruce forests with sustained elevation gains of 1000m+, while the Tatras themselves rise to 2655m just 30km north.
