The University - Costacabana - Torregarcia Hermitage line suits steady Z2, and the route runs 12 kilometres close to the coast. The route covers 601 km with 37m of ascent. San Jose gives the good stuff, with Playa de Los Genoveses to Monsul and the headland back above town. Carrera Pescadería Virgen del Carmen, Carrera Nocturna contra el Cáncer, and Carrera Popular Universidad de Almería are easy anchor dates.
Cycling: Locals ride Almería because the roads go quiet, barren, and remote fast, and the province still feels like excellent cycling country. Carboneras and Agua Amarga coastal loop gives a strong day out, and the route runs 68km with 1140m elevation. Puerto de La Virgen and Valley of the Blocks gives 55km with 1320m elevation. Sierra Bedar and Antas loop stretches to 83km with 1390m elevation. Puerto de Velefique and Calar Alto sit in the Sierra de Los Filabres, and both climbs make proper gran fondo legs. Locals shift running toward early coast paths and shaded timing, while cyclists keep climbs honest and save intervals for the cooler hours.
