Les Gorges de la Truyere is the 122 km option within L'Etape Sanfloraine, a mid-August cycling weekend based in Saint-Flour in France's Cantal department. It is open as both a cyclosportive and a cyclotouriste ride, suiting riders who want a timed challenge as well as those treating the day more like a hard mountain tour. The event has been part of Saint-Flour's summer for more than 15 years and draws close to 1,000 cyclists.
The weekend starts with a sharp individual time trial in Saint-Flour: the Montee Christian Rouffiac, only 1.2 km long but with 95 meters of climbing through the town's narrow streets. On Sunday, riders head out onto the roads of the Pays de Saint-Flour, with four route choices across the event. The 122 km Les Gorges de la Truyere route is part of the Trophee Passion and sits below the 159 km flagship distance, giving riders a serious Cantal course without choosing the longest ride on the program.
