SCF Svenska Mästerskapen Landsväg Tempo - Ungdom och Master

The SCF Swedish Championship Road Time Trial for Youth and Masters takes place in June at Ulva Kvarn, Uppsala. The Swedish Cycling Federation and Upsala CK organize this event, which is part of the national road championships that also feature road races for other age and senior categories. The time trial requires riders to start individually and race against the clock over distances of 10.6 km, 17 km, or 32 km, depending on their category. Participants include girls and boys aged 10-12, 13-14, and 15-16, as well as masters women aged 30 to 60 and masters men aged 30 to 75. This championship structure accommodates both young riders new to national competition and experienced racers with extensive backgrounds in the sport. SCF's chip timing system is used, and the national championships have been hosted in various cities, with Linkoping having previously hosted before Uppsala.

6 sjöar

6 sjöar is a summer trail race held at Fjällnora friluftsgård near Uppsala, with all distances beginning and ending at the same location. Participants can select from approximately 5.5 km, 10.5 km, half marathon, and marathon distances, making the event suitable for beginners, families, club runners, and those seeking a full day on forest paths. The name translates to “six lakes,” with route distances increasing from one lake to all six. The shortest path encircles Lake Ramsen, the half marathon covers four lakes, and the most common selection is the full six-lake route. The participant field is notably international, with roughly half coming from outside the country, and registration for longer distances can close early. The courses consist of marked forest trails and gravel roads, with shorter routes near Lake Ramsen and longer ones connecting the lakes for more diverse running. Staggered start times allow friends and family to compete in different distances on the same morning and still experience the event together. The organizers, who work on a volunteer basis, focus on minimizing waste. Runners are asked to bring their own bottle or mug, and single-use cups and plastic bags are avoided. Free reusable Hydrapouch mugs are provided to those who need them. To reduce environmental impact, standard free finisher shirts are not offered, though they are available for purchase. Instead of showers, participants can enjoy a free swim in the lake, and in warm weather, some may even swim during the race.

Kung Björn Loppet

Kung Björn Loppet is Uppsala’s family-oriented cross-country race, organized by Uppsala Löparklubb at OK Linné’s club house. The main options are 10 km and approximately 6 km on mixed surfaces, with a separate Kung Björn Trail of about 5 to 5.5 km in forest terrain. The event is designed for a wide range of participants: elite runners, recreational runners, students, teams, and children all have a designated part in the program. The course includes gravel roads, forest paths, some asphalt, and deeper woodland sections for the trail race, giving it the feel of a club-run terrain event rather than a road race. Younger runners can participate in Mini Kung Björn over 600 m for children up to age 7 and Lilla Kung Björn over 1400 m for children up to age 12. The race utilizes bibs with electronic chips, set start times, registration via RaceID, and a prize ceremony. It is nearing its 20th anniversary.

About cycling & running in Uppsala

Uppsala Training Notes

Running: Locals run Uppsala by linking the Fyris River paths north and south of the city centre. The sightseeing loop starts at S:t Eriks Torg when you want easy kilometres through Fjärdingen and the old quarters. Stadsskogen gives softer footing for base miles, and Röbo adds running tracks plus an outdoor gym for intervals. Tunakolonin and Uppsala Kungsäng nature reserve keep the Z2 days green. Uppsala Run Collective pulls the student crowd together. Uppsala Marathon 2026, Ultunamilen, Vårruset Uppsala, Östhammars Stadslopp, Kung Björnloppet 2026, and 6 sjöar give the calendar proper anchor events.

Cycling: Locals ride from the city centre along Fyrisån when the legs need an easy spin. Gamla Uppsala and the surrounding countryside turn that ride into a bigger effort. Upsala CK sits at the race end of the scene, with SCF Svenska Mästerskapen - Skandisloppet - Landsväg Linje, SCF Svenska Mästerskapen Landsväg Tempo, and Upplands Cup Lvg - Börje tempo on the board. Fullerö Backar sits north, Sunnerstabacken sits south, and Uppsalaåsen gives the area its lower kickers. A loop covers 100 km and gains 783 m, so it works as a tidy gran fondo day.

Season: May through October usually gives cyclists the cleanest block for base miles, and runners get long light across the same parks and river paths. Uppsala gets over 18 hours of visible sunshine at the summer solstice, so evening intervals can still feel unhurried. January averages 4 °C, and July 2021 was the most recent month at 18 °C or warmer. Winter puts studded tires on the bike, steadier shoes on the runner, and a little respect into every corner. Paths can look fine but be slippery, so locals stay ready to have a slip or two.
