Foggia sits on the Tavoliere delle Puglie plain in northern Apulia, with minimal elevation change and hard, fast ground ideal for road running. The Run for Foggia and Mezza del Santo are the main local races, both flat courses through the surrounding agricultural landscape. Cyclists head 40km north to the Gargano peninsula for limestone hills and coastal routes around Lake Varano, where the Lake Varano Tri showcases the region's mix of flat lowlands and rougher terrain.
