Ronde van Nijmegen
The Ronde van Nijmegen, as described here, is a Dutch road-cycling stage race held in August. It is linked to the Ronde van Nederland series, not a standalone city event. The race starts in Veenendaal and concludes in Gulpen. Nijmegen features late in the race, hosting both a road stage and a short time trial. The route commences with a 4.8 km prologue in Veenendaal. Riders then proceed through long road stages to Assen, Schagen, Den Haag, Nijmegen, and Gulpen. The longest stages measure 240 km, 238 km, and 247 km. A 14.6 km time trial from Groesbeek to Nijmegen provides a significant challenge for the general classification before the final leg into Limburg. Gerrie Knetemann secured victory in 26:46:16, with Gerrit Solleveld finishing nine seconds later and Peter Pieters third at 27 seconds, indicating that the top positions were determined by narrow margins after almost 27 hours of competition.
