About cycling & running in CorfuCorfu Training Notes
Running: Corfu gives runners a proper island mix, not just seaside jogging. Locals start easy from Corfu Town or Kerkyra, then head for the Corfu Old Town Trail, Kombitsi Pine Forest, Liapades, Kassiopi, or the West Coast Trail when they want dirt. The Corfu Trail runs 220 km across the island and links gorges, olive groves, dunes, cliffs, and long runnable sections. The north is the most technical, and the south stays gentler until deep dune sand slows the legs. Corfu Old Town Trail 2026, Corfu Mountain Trail, Kassios Dias Trails, and Annual General Run are the anchor names.
Cycling: Corfu makes riders earn the view. Locals use Greek National Road 24 and Greek National Road 25, then point the bike inland toward Chlomos, Sinarades, Doukades, Sokraki, Spartilas, and the mountain roads above Paleokastritsa. S-Bikes in Acharavi is the named bike hub, and riders use its off-road maps when they want MTB lines, singletrack, or base miles away from the coast. Mount Pantokrator rises to 917 m, and its climbs give the island its real gran fondo feel. Cycling stages run from 17 to 62 km, and some routes stack gradients up to 900 m.
Season: April, May, June, September, and October give Corfu its best training rhythm. Locals ride and run early in summer, because Corfu has hit 43°C and Z2 can turn ugly fast after breakfast. The city centre works for short intervals, while Korission Lagoon, Lake Korission, Paramonas, Lefkimmi, and Agios Giorgos suit longer steady days. Winter stays mild to cool, but very rainy weather changes the job for both sports. Runners pick firmer loops and shorter climbs, while cyclists keep more crit-style control work near town and save Pantokrator days for clear roads.
