10° Parma Marathon

Parma Marathon offers runners five distances during its October road-running event in Parma, Italy. The options include the full marathon, TRENTA2 (over 32 km), VENTI4 (over 24 km), La Vigorosa competitive 10K, and Desmila non-competitive 10K. PARMARATHON ASD organizes the race series. The setup is practical for a city race, providing chip timing, refreshment points, baggage storage, changing rooms, showers, event photos, and a goodie bag. The marathon route crosses Parma’s streets, squares, and central landmarks, with the organizer designing the course to highlight the city’s art, history, and food culture. La Vigorosa is the official competitive 10 km road race, featuring a homologated course and categories ranging from Allievi and Juniores to Promesse, Seniores, and Masters, open to both men and women. Side events are included in the weekend activities, meaning the race weekend is not limited to marathoners pursuing the full distance.

Ingorda

Ingorda is a May cycling event originating in Parma, crossing Italy’s Food Valley and centered on eating as much as riding. The complete route spans 85 km from Parma to Busseto, following the permanent Food Valley Bike path and featuring 10 gastronomic stops. A shorter Mezza Ingorda option covers 40 km from Parma to Colorno, with 6 food stops included. This is a cicloturistico ride, not a speed race, and gravel, MTB, trekking, and e-bikes are recommended. The course utilizes many traffic-free paths and secondary roads, with no significant climbs or technical sections beyond brief gravel stretches. Road bikes are prohibited, and helmets are required. Participants will pass locations linked to local history and culture, such as the Reggia di Colorno, the Po Grande and Parma Morta reserves, Giuseppe Verdi’s homeland, and the “Mondo Piccolo” of Don Camillo and Peppone. The food stops are central to the event, offering Parmigiano Reggiano, pasta al pomodoro, risotto, anolini, tortel dols, spalla cotta and cruda, ciccioli, Culatello di Zibello, prugna zucchella, and spongata. A bus equipped for bike transport is available to return riders from Busseto to Parma.

Parma Mezza Maratona

Parma Mezza Maratona is a September road running event in Parma, with all races starting and finishing in the historic city center. The main event is a competitive 21 km half marathon, accompanied by a competitive 10 km named TEN, an open 10 km called TEN SPECIAL, a 5 km charity walk named Corri per la Vita, a children's race for young athletes, and a free 5 km run-walk called Good Morning & Run. This variety allows club runners, first-time participants, families, and walkers to participate together in the same event, choosing different distances. The routes utilize central Parma streets instead of a remote start, closely linking the race to the city. CUS Parma A.S.D. organizes the event, and the half marathon is listed on the national F.I.D.A.L. calendar. The weekend provides practical services for runners, including chip timing, baggage storage, showers, changing rooms, refreshment stations, parking, event photography, and a goodie bag. Beyond the course, organizers offer additional activities, a children's zone, a pasta party, and museum discounts, aligning with Parma's identity for food and culture as well as its running events.

About cycling & running in Parma

Parma Training Notes

Running: Parma runners keep it simple and useful. Locals use Parco Ducale, Cittadella, and parco di via Montanara when they want steady laps without leaving town. The loop is 6 km per lap, so intervals and Z2 both work there. 00. You can also run a 7 km loop and a 14 km out-and-back to Montycelli Terme. The brief names no dedicated run club. Parma Mezza Maratona, Parma Marathon, Parma Sunset Run, Cetilar Run Parma, and Strawoman anchor the calendar.

Cycling: Parma riders get flat base miles first, then go looking for bite. Food Valley Bike runs 90 km along the Po Valley and stays entirely flat. Castelli Parmensi - PR7 gives 50 km with Panocchia Castle, Torrechiara Castle, Felino Castle, and Sala Braganza Castle on the line. Ciclovia del Taro runs from Parma to Fornovo for 28 km. Ciclovia Boschi di Carrega starts in Collecchio, about 15 km south of Parma, and the shady forest suits steady work. The hills of Felino and Torrechiara, the Coste di Bazzano ridge, and the Boriano climb bring the real gears. The brief names no cycling club. Ingorda and L'Etape du Tour de France sit as anchor events.

Season: October is the best month in the brief, and locals use it for long runs, gran fondo legs, and tidy Z2 before the cold sets in. Summer in Parma asks for earlier starts, park shade, and clean loops through Cittadella, Parco Ducale, Carrega Woods, and the Taro River Park. Winter brings continental bite, and the city gets about 45 cm of snow each year. Runners lean on short urban loops, while cyclists keep the flat Food Valley Bike and gentle Carrega gradients in play when the climbs are less inviting.
