Running in West Bromwich is mostly flat and urban, centred on Sandwell Park and the canal towpaths that link to neighbouring towns. The Pretty Muddy Sandwell 5km obstacle course uses local parks as its course. Cyclists here treat the area as a launch point into the Black Country and Shropshire — serious climbing starts 20km north in the Clent Hills and Lickey Range (around 300m elevation gain), while the Wolverhampton Wheelers Cycling Club 22 route heads further west into rolling Shropshire terrain over 35km.
