Genova

Genova's running scene orbits the Ligurian coast and inland valleys—the Traversata della ValBisagno follows a major river gorge inland for 10km of steady climbing, while the Genova Trail offers fell routes up to 46km through the Apennine foothills that rise directly from sea level. Cyclists face the same dramatic topography: steep climbs out of the port into the surrounding hills with 400–600m elevation gain within 10–15km, making road and gravel training intense and technical. The city itself is compact and hilly; serious training happens either on the waterfront flats or in the mountains immediately behind.
