Running: Locals keep easy runs close to the water first. The La Spezia Tour gives you 8 km with 34 m of gain and uses Passeggiata Costantino Morin, Giardini Pubblici, V. de Prione. Giardini Pubblici works for short shakeouts before coffee. The Centro Storico adds rhythm work through piazzas without making it a big session. Trail days point toward Levanto to La Spezia, Palmaria Island, and the Gulf trails. Levanto to La Spezia covers 103 km with 2,662 m of gain when you want a real anchor effort. Anchor races include 4° Su e giù per le Colline di Nave and 43° Memorial G. Ballerini.
Cycling: Locals ride from town straight into climbing. The Rebocco – Fabiano Basso gives you a paved cycle path for easy spins and Z2 legs. The La Spezia - Cinque Terre route starts in La Spezia and rolls toward Riomaggiore, Manarola, and the coast. The GRAVEL!!! The GRAVEL!!! runs 26 miles with 6,844 feet of gain, so that one is not a soft coffee ride. The western hills hold monte Verrugoli, monte Parodi, monte Santa Croce, and monte Viseggi. Saliscendi Beverino works as the cycling anchor race name to know.
Season: Locals chase dry windows because La Spezia runs hot in summer, damp in winter, and changeable in autumn and spring. Summer gives strong base miles if you start early, because sunny days can exceed 30°C and sometimes reach 35°C with heavy humidity. The waterfront still works for short intervals, but the hills feel better before the heat settles in. Winter changes the kit more than the ambition. Clear winter nights can drop below zero and usually reach about -2°C, while snow stays extremely uncommon. Runners stay flexible with roads, steps, and smooth paths, and riders keep climbs honest when the roads are clear.
