Lisbon's running terrain is almost entirely flat along the Tagus riverfront and through the city's grid, making it ideal for distance training, though the historic centre climbs steeply in places. Cyclists dominate here—the Ride Across Portugal traverses the entire country starting from the metro area, and local rides head north into the Serra da Sintra for sharp 300–400m climbs within 30km, or follow coastal roads west toward Cascais. The RFM Performance MANZ Games and duathlon courses around Amadora and Alcabideche offer structured racing in relatively compact zones around the sprawling metro.
