Muddy Angel Run - Duisburg

The Muddy Angel Run in Duisburg is a 5 km women’s mud and obstacle run at Sportpark on Kruppstraße. It is part of a large European series for women and girls aged 12 and up, with adults accompanying younger participants. Runners can run, jog, or walk; there is no timing, so the day is not about racing the clock or chasing a ranking. The Duisburg course sends participants through mud and 15 playful obstacles, usually in teams of friends, sisters, mothers, daughters, neighbors, or colleagues. The wider series visits cities such as Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig, Dresden, Zurich, Berlin, Cologne, Munich Haar, Magdeburg, and Hamburg. Entry also supports breast cancer awareness through partnerships with Brustkrebs Deutschland e.V. and Pink Ribbon in Switzerland, and Strong Angel Tickets give women affected by breast cancer free participation.

IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg

Ironman 70.3 Duisburg is held in Duisburg, Germany, as part of the Ironman 70.3 triathlon series. The race follows a half-Ironman distance: a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike course, and a 21.1 km run. The name "70.3" refers to the total distance in miles, equivalent to 113.1 km. The bike segment is an individual time trial, prohibiting drafting or riding side-by-side for extended periods. The 70.3 series originated in Llanberis, Wales, as Half-Ironman UK before the Ironman 70.3 branding was adopted. Athletes compete in these events as demanding long-distance triathlons, with finishers eligible to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. In the past, only certain 70.3 races provided a route to the Ironman Hawaii, increasing their significance. The series has expanded from a few events to a global circuit managed by the World Triathlon Corporation.

デュースブルクでの練習の話

ランニング： デュースブルクってね、ライン川とルール川が合流するところにあるから、水辺とか公園、古い工業地帯の端っこを繋げて走るのが地元の人たちの定番なんだ。例えば、ランシャフトパーク・デュースブルク＝ノルトはアルテ・エムシャー沿いを走れるし、公園全体を一周するとだいたい6 kmくらいになるよ。レガッタバーンはテンポ走にぴったりで、ウェダウ・レガッタ・コースを一周すると5k弱くらいかな。冬になるとASVデュースブルクが主催するAOK Winterlaufserie des ASV Duisburgが盛り上がるんだ。他にも、ライン＝ルール・マラソン、デュースブルク・ターゴバンク・ラン、ナハトマムート・ルールゲビート、インネンハーフェンラウフ、ビーガーパークラウフ、リヒターラウフとか、年間を通して色々なレースがあるから、飽きないよ。

サイクリング： 自転車に乗るなら、ここは平坦でスピードが出しやすいから、ライン川、ルール川、エムシャー・トレイル沿いでベースマイルを稼ぐのにすごく良いんだ。ルールタールラートヴェークはザウアーラントのヴィンターベルクからルール地方を通ってデュースブルク近くのライン川まで240 kilometersも蛇行してるし、レーマー＝リッペ・ルートはデトモルトとクサンテンの間を295 kilometers走れる。エムシャー・トレイルはホルツヴィッケデからディンスラーケンまで続いてるよ。クラブに入るなら、シュタットシュポルトブント (SSB) デュースブルクが入口になるし、ASVデュースブルクも地元では有名だね。IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburgは、バイクコースが2周回で、標高差はそんなにないけど速いセクションが多くて、かなりガチなイベントだよ。本格的な登り坂はベルギッシェス・ラントの郊外、東の方にあるんだ。

シーズン： 夏はね、早く出ないとデュースブルクはかなり暑くなるから気をつけて。開けた川沿いの道とかレガッタバーンは、本気の暑熱順化トレーニングみたいになっちゃうんだ。2019年7月25日に6°Cだった日もあったけど、基本的にはボトル、日陰、Z2を意識して、その後にインターバルを追い込むのが地元流だよ。秋はマラソンの足作りとか、gran fondoのリズム、ルール地方へのロングライドにぴったりで、街全体が走りやすい雰囲気だね。冬になってもトレーニングが止まるわけじゃなくて、気分が変わるって感じかな。ランナーにはAOK Winterlaufserie des ASV Duisburgっていう良い目標があるし、サイクリストは平坦な道でベースマイルをしっかり踏んだり、工業地帯の緑地の周りのちょっと荒れたところでcyclocrossやsingletrackを楽しんだりしてるよ。
