About cycling & running in Łowicz
Łowicz Base Miles
Running: Park Miejski is the local running default, and parkrun Park Miejski Łowicz keeps it simple every Saturday. The parkrun route has three laps, so the dice are thrown three times before coffee. The first lap runs through the park and along the embankment with a view of the Bzura River. The later laps go to the end of the embankments and back through the park. Locals use it for Z2, short intervals, and easy catch-ups. KS Księżak Łowicz, Klub Sportowy „Pelikan”, Uczniowski Klub Sportowy „Jedynka”, and Łowicka Akademia Sportu keep the scene local. Skierniewicka Dziesiątka, Bieg Wiosny Skierniewicka Triada Biegowa, and Polmaraton Szlakiem Walk nad Bzura sit close enough to feel like anchor races.
Cycling: Łowicz has mostly flat to rolling roads for cyclists. The typical route here covers 7 km and gains 106 m. The climbs sit in those small numbers, so nobody comes here for mountains. Klub Turystyki Kolarskiej „Szprycha” has been around since 1987 and runs Sunday cycling trips, rallies, and longer rides. Żtc Bike Race, Gravel po Lodzku, Duathlon Strykow, and Garmin Iron Triathlon Skierniewice give the calendar some bite.
Season: July and August are the big riding months in Łowicz, and locals know the summer rhythm by feel. June air can start fresh on the first Saturday and pick up a heavy summer edge with every kilometre. Park Miejski still works for runners when the heat comes, because the laps stay familiar and the Bzura embankment keeps the route open. Winter keeps running alive rather than shutting it down. The 170th parkrun edition happened on Saturday, December 13, and the Christmas edition was planned for Saturday, December 20. Cyclists keep the club habits through KK Łowicz and Klub Turystyki Kolarskiej „Szprycha”, then wait for July and August to bring the busiest road weeks back.
