Matosinhos

Matosinhos is a coastal town north of Porto where flat seafront running dominates—the promenade runs 7km along the Atlantic with the UR70K Barcadouro cycling route pushing inland into rolling terrain toward the Douro valley. Local cyclists favor the UR70K gravel loop through rural villages and the 12º Passeio BTT Bombeiros de Messines, a 60km mountain bike route through pine forests southeast of the city. Runners use the beach paths for easy mileage while the duathlon and aquathlon events draw competitors from Porto's metro area.
