Adidas Runners City Night
The adidas Runners City Night begins and ends near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm. Typically held in late July, this urban road race features a swift 10 km run, complemented by a 5 km run and a 10 km inline skating competition. Wheelchair athletes also compete in the 10 km event. The route crosses Kurfürstendamm through central Berlin on level, paved roads, conducive to fast personal bests and spectator viewing. The inaugural race saw 645 participants, while recent events typically draw between 6,000 and 10,000 runners, with a peak participation near 12,000. The race has maintained its location in this section of Berlin since 1992. Its history includes adaptations due to weather: extreme heat once necessitated a 5 km untimed run, and a storm warning once led to the cancellation of the runs and a shortened skating race.
